Local observers say federal budget doesn't go after voters in a big way

Economics professor Michael Veall provided his analysis to The Hamilton Spectator on yesterday's federal budget reveal.

While the budget also aims to help first-time millennial homebuyers, and keep pensioners out of poverty, it is a "stay the course" budget in McMaster economics professor Michael Veall's view. "There's surprisingly little in new spending given it's an election year."

The budget details $22.8 billion in new spending over the next six years.

Veall said he especially though the Liberals would be more aggressive in creating pharmacare.
