Economics Professor Awarded the Faculty of Social Sciences 2018 Impact Award

Professor Mike Veall has been awarded the inaugural Faculty of Social Sciences Impact Award for 2018.

The Faculty’s Impact Award recognizes outstanding research impacts, knowledge mobilization, and/or outreach activities. Initiatives will have facilitated the flow and exchange of research
knowledge within and/or beyond the relevant social sciences research community. The award is given to an individual or team whose research has had important intellectual or academic impacts and/or community, cultural, social and/or economic impacts. Congratulations to Mike on this achievement!

About the Award/Description

Impacts are long-term research outcomes that take the form of changed thinking, behaviours and policy. They are reflected through global economic performance, competitiveness, public service effectiveness, new products and services, employment, policy, learning skills enhancement, quality of life, community cohesion, and movement toward reconciliation and social inclusion.

The Faculty’s Impact Award recognizes outstanding research impacts, knowledge mobilization, and/or outreach activities. Initiatives will have facilitated the flow and exchange of research knowledge within and/or beyond the relevant social sciences research community. The award is given to an individual or team whose research has had important:

  • intellectual or academic impacts and/or
  • community, cultural, social and/or economic impacts
