Section 11: Uploading Files & Documents

To upload a file specifically follow these steps:

File Uploading:

 

Step 1: Login to the site from any page

Step 2: Navigate to the top or "root" of your website (in this case the main link at the top of the left hand navigation menu)

Step 3:
Click on the "contents" tab at the top of the editing area

Step 4:
  You should now see a list of files and folders with different icons in the left hand column which helps indicate their file type, locate the folder called "documents" (note: If you do not see this folder near or in the list of files and folders you are presented with you may need to advance through the contents pages to view more files and folders located in the same folder but on separate pages.  You can hit the option "show all items" to reveal all items within your main site "root")

Step 5:
  Once you are in the Documents folder go up to the option "add new..." select the option "file"

Step 6:
  Title the file at the next prompt and then browse your local machine for the file itself.  When completed click ok and return to the page where you which to link the file from.


Linking Files: (also see Section 8: Internal Links)


Step 1:
Navigate to a page which requires a link to a file or item found in your website. Click the 'Edit' tab.

Step 2: Highlight a block of text which you want to become the link (note: you can also select images to make them click-able links).

Step 3: Click on the “Insert Internal Link” button on the editing toolbar.

Step 4:
Use the “.. (Parent folder)” and other folders to navigate to the desired page.

Step 5: Select the file or item in your site you want the selected text to link to and Click “OK”
