PhD students coming to work on social policy can therefore draw on expertise in a range of policy fields, in addition to McMaster’s recognized strength in Comparative Policy studies more generally. They will also find faculty embracing a range of theoretical approaches, including Historical Institutionalism, Political Economy Approaches, Ideational perspectives, and Feminism, and open to discussion across approaches and policy fields. McMaster also hosts the Global Social Policy journal and the Institute on Globalization and the Human Condition offers a graduate course in this field.
