The Department of Political Science at McMaster University, in conjunction with the Canada Research Chair in Public Policy and Globalization, and Institute for Globalization and the Human Condition, cordially invites graduate students to submit paper proposals to the second Graduate Conference on the Internationalization of Public Policy. The conference will be held January 28-29, 2013, in Hamilton, Ontario and is entitled Mapping the Global Dimensions of Policy 2. Co-sponsors include the Global Health Program, Centre for Health Economics and Policy Analysis, Centre for Engineering and Public Policy and Centre for Climate Change at McMaster University.

Drawing upon McMaster's expertise in the field of international and comparative public policy, the conference theme focuses on the global dimensions of policy and aims to bridge the gap between international relations and public policy by investigating how the “the global,” including institutions, actors and ideas intersects with the “regional”, “national” and “the local” to create particular policies and outcomes. Papers using a variety of approaches and addressing a range of issues related to the internationalization of public policy are welcome, including: global health/ international trade and finance /climate change and its policy implications/ energy policy/ employment and labour market policy/ education/ citizenship, borders and international migration / social policy/ foreign investment/ civil society/ innovation/ issues of public-private authority/ new constitutionalism.

Open to Masters and PhD students, the interdisciplinary conference will provide students with the ideal setting to foster networks with fellow students and faculty in their area of research and to participate in plenary discussion sessions with distinguished guest speakers. Participants will benefit from in-depth feedback on their written work and presentation from a faculty discussant. Selected papers will be published in the McMaster Institute on Globalization and the Human Condition's Working Paper series. To apply please download and submit an application along with a 250 word abstract to Halina Sapeha and Scott Smith by email to

globalization.conference@mcmaster.ca

Deadline for abstract submission is November 16 (for proposals applying for financial assistance, consideration of abstracts will begin on October 19).
