SOC SCI 1EL0: Introduction to University Through Experiential Learning

 
SOC SCI 1EL0 is a non-credit, tuition-free course that is noted on the official transcript.

SOC SCI 1EL0 presents activities to assist with the transition into university. Topics include learning strategies, academic planning, goal setting and career options.  An introduction to campus and community resources is also covered.

Course Evaluation

SOC SCI 1EL0 will be recorded on your transcript as a PASS or as a FAIL grade.  To receive a PASS in the course, you must:
  • attend a minimum of five of the six classes; and,
  • submit all required assignments to your facilitator on the final week of class.  You may pick up your assignments from KTH 102 two weeks after the final class.

SOC SCI 2ELO - Introduction to Career Planning Through Experiential Learning


SOC SCI 2EL0 is a non-credit, tuition-free course that is noted on the official transcript.

This 6 week, 12 hour course will engage you in a variety of hands-on exploration activities to provide you with a strong foundation for your career and future planning. You will better understand the skills that you have acquired in your academic studies, extra-curricular activities and summer jobs, and how this relates to making occupational choices and job searching. You will be introduced to tools, methods and resources that will facilitate your decision making now and in the future.

Course Evaluation

SOC SCI 2EL0 will be recorded on your transcript as a PASS or as a FAIL grade. To receive a PASS in the course, you must:

  • submit your completed career portfolio to your facilitator on the final week of class. You may pick up your portfolio from KTH 102 two weeks after the final class.

SOC SCI 3EL3 - Leadership Through Experiential Learning


The intent of this course is to explore and enhance your leadership capabilities in an interdisciplinary model.  You will gain knowledge and develop skills in leadership for the twenty-first century, so that you can go on to be active leader in your profession, community and your world. 

This course promotes an interactive learning environment and incorporates facilitated discussion around the various models of leadership, diversity, power, and change with ample time for reflection.   

You will also have an opportunity to develop a more complex understanding of the operation of leadership, organizations and change through placements in the community.
