Internships
Internships must be a minimum of 12 weeks in duration. Placements are offered full-time or part-time over a period of 4, 8, 12, and 16 months during the fall, winter, or summer terms. Here are some of the distinctive features of each type:
- part-time placements are usually between five to twenty-five (5-25) hours per week, usually starting in either September or January. Start dates are flexible;
- full-time placements range between twenty-six to forty (26-40) hours per week and often start in September, January, or May. Students applying for full-time internships can not carry a full course load while completing the placement; and,
- summer internships are four (4) month placements that begin in May and end in August. Students usually work a minimum of twenty (20) hours to a maximum of forty (40) hours per week.
Please note: Positions must be posted the term prior to their starting date.
1. Create and submit an internship
position Leahann Renaud, Programming and Outreach Manager, in order to reach the
maximum number of suitable applicants.
Internship postings must include a start date, end date, a remuneration method,
and a clear list of responsibilities and qualifications.
2. Review applications and make
interview selections.
After selecting interview candidates, contact the Programming and Outreach
Manager to set up an interview schedule, or personally arrange scheduled times
and dates with the student applicants.
3. Offer the position to the most
qualified candidate.
Make a selection and notify the Programming and Outreach Manager who will
notify all applicants of their status.
