Chair

 

Dr. Jim Dunn 2Dr. James Dunn, PhD, is an international leader in the study of housing and health. He is an Associate Professor of Health, Aging and Society at McMaster University and a scientist with the Centre for Research on Inner City Health (CRICH) at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto. His research examines how social factors--such as housing, neighbourhoods and the distribution of income in cities--influence the health of families and individuals.

 

Dr. Dunn has been a scientific advisor to a number of policy-related bodies, including the Privy Council Office of Canada, Health Canada, the National Housing Research Committee of Canada and the World Health Organization’s European Task Force on Housing and Health. He is also a Fellow of the Successful Societies program of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research. He lends his expertise to international peer-reviewed publications as a member of the editorial board of Housing, Theory & Society and as deputy editor of the Journal of Epidemiology & Community Health.

 

His application for the Chair in Research on Urban Neighbourhoods, Community Health and Housing (CRUNCH) was the top-ranked in the peer-reviewed competition for funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Public Health Agency of Canada.
